If you're a pilot, there are many ways Google Earth can be used to really enhance your trip plans both from an aviation and ground-based perspective. But, Google Earth goes way beyond just trip planning as a tool for pilots. I'm a pilot myself, and have been using Google Earth to enhance my flying experiences for nearly three years.
How to Get 3D Buildings in Google Earth Flight Simulator
1. Enter Flight Simulator mode - Select "Tools->Enter Flight Simulator". Optional: fly to a city which has 3D buildings (tip: San Francisco, Baltimore, Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte - these all have lots of 3D buildings). NOTE: - there is a bug in GE 4.3 if you select the "Current View" option in the "Enter Flight Simulator" window, you may end up at an higher altitude than you expect upon starting the flight (much higher). Just fly back down to the city level.
2. Open the Sidebar - Sidebar shortcut - Press 'Ctrl + Alt + B' (or + Option + B' on the Mac) to bring up the sidebar3. Turn on 3D Buildings - Turn these on in the Layers pane in the lower left after the sidebar opens.4. Turn Off Sidebar - IMPORTANT - before resuming the flight simulator, turn off the sidebar by hitting the sidebar shortcut from step 2
5. Resume flight - Now you can resume flying the flight simulator by hitting the SPACE key and the 3D buildings should stay on for your current flight.

Jari Tangan dan Masalah
Di sebuah desa, hiduplah seorang pemuda. Usianya belumlah genap 20 tahun. Namun sayang, kehidupannya sangat merana. Selalu saja ada banyak kesulitan yang dihadapinya. Usahanya sering gagal.
Tak banyak yang bisa dilakukannya selain merenungi nasib. Ia
bertanya dalam hati, mengapa ada beribu masalah yang selalu ada di sekitarnya.
Suatu ketika, ia mendengar ada seorang bijak yang dapat membantu mengatasi setiap persoalan. Kabarnya, orang tua ini selalu berhasil menolong setiap orang yang datang kepadanya. Sang pemuda pun tertarik untuk datang dan mencari jalan keluar bagi masalah yang di hadapinya. Segera saja di persiapkan bekal untuk melakukan perjalanan menuju ke tempat orang bijak itu berada.
Seharian penuh ia berjalan, hingga sampailah di pinggir hutan. Hari sudah malam, ketika akhirnya ia menemukan rumah yang dicarinya.
Setelah mengucapkan salam, masuklah sang pemuda dan bertemu dengan orang yang di harapkan menjadi penolongnya. Mari masuk silahkan duduk, terdengar jawaban dari dalam.
Dengan penuh harap, pemuda itu pun mulai menceritakan masalah yang dihadapinya. Ia berkisah tentang pekerjaannya yang gagal, kawan-kawannya yang memusuhinya, juga semua masalah-masalah lainnya.
Sang orang tua, mendengarkan dengan seksama, bersungguh-sungguh untuk memahami pemuda itu. Setelah beberapa lama, usailah ia menyampaikan semuanya. Lalu, apa yang harus aku lakukan, tanya pemuda, apa yang sebenarnya aku hadapi, dan apa masalahku??
Anak muda, maaf, aku tak bisa sepenuhnya menolongmu. Aku hanya bisa menunjukkanmu suatu hal. Orangtua itu kemudian menuju jendela, dan membukanya lebar-lebat. Di luar sana, tampak langit yang gelap gulita. Lalu, diacungkannya jari telunjuk, seperti menunjuk ke atas, ke arah jendela itu. “Nak, lihatlah jari telunjukku, ada berapa jari yang kau lihat?”
Pemuda itu segera menjawab, tentu saja, hanya ada satu!?. Kemudian, orangtua itu
berpindah, sambil menutup jendela, dan mengacungkan telunjukknya ke arah dinding. Ia lalu bertanya, Sekarang, ada berapa jari yang kau lihat?? Sang pemuda, tampak memicingkan mata. Tampaklah tangan dan jari telunjuk yang teracung, dengan latar belakang dinding yang putih. Ada bayang-bayang yang tampak disana.
Lihatlah lebih jelas, jatuhkan pandanganmu ke belakang, ada berapa jari yang kau lihat.?
Sebentar, aku melihat, ada satu?.eh, dua jari yang ku lihat.? Bagaimana ini bisa terjadi? Ternyata, dinding yang putih, memberikan nuansa yang berbeda dalam pantulan benda.
Ada fenomena lain yang membuat jari itu tampak tak seperti aslinya.? Anak muda, itu hanya nuansa bayangan dari jari ku saja. Setiap benda akan terlihat berbayang ganda jika diletakkan pada dasar yang putih.
Engkau pun akan melihatnya ganda jika melayangkan pandanganmu jauh ke belakangnya, dan tidak terpaku pada benda itu saja. Dan sama halnya dengan semua masalahmu.
Sesungguhnya, dalam setiap masalah, kadang, bukan pemecahanlah yang harus kita cari. Tapi, kemampuan untuk melihat masalah itulah yang kita perlukan. Kadang kita sering terpaku hanya pada masalah itu-itu saja, tanpa pernah membiarkan kita melihat sisi lainnya.
Cobalah layangkan pandanganmu ke belakang, pada jarak yang berbeda pada setiap masalah, engkau akan menemukan bukan hanya satu, tapi dua atau tiga hal yang terlihat. Anggaplah jari telunjukku sebagai semua masalahmu. Dan dinding itu sebagai pikiranmu. Maka, engkau akan dapat melihat sosok suatu masalah, dengan jelas, pada dinding
yang putih, pada pikiran yang jernih. Engkau akan mampu melihat dengan lebih jelas apa yang kau hadapi pada pikiran yang tenang, bukan pada latar yang gelap dan penuh amarah.
Tataplah semua masalahmu itu dalam pandangan jernih, tenang, dan bersih. Teliti setiap sisi persoalan hidupmu, dengan hati yang suci.
Susuri dan pahami setiap aral di depanmu, tidak dengan pandangan yang gelap gulita.
Pahami dan maknai semuanya. Saat engkau memahami apa yang sedang kau hadapi, maka engkau akan mudah mengatasinya. Setiap persoalan, mungkin terlihat seperti satu hal saja, namun sesungguhnya hal itu mempunyai sisi lain yang tak terungkap, hingga kita mampu melihatnya
dengan pandangan yang jernih.

Teman, bisa jadi kita mau mencoba hal ini. Acungkanlah jari kita ke dinding yang putih.
Pandanglah, dengan tatapan jauh ke belakang jari itu. Kita akan menemukan ada pantulan yang berbeda dari jari-jari kita. Kita akan melihat, tak hanya ada satu jari yang terlihat, tapi dua, atau bahkan lebih. Mungkin dalam teori optis, kita akan menemukan penjelasan yang ilmiah dan akademis.
Namun fenomena ini akan mengajarkan kita satu hal:
Suatu masalah, kadang akan tampak lebih jelas kita menatapnya dengan pandangan jernih dan jauh ke belakang.
Allah memang Maha Pencipta. Allah selalu memberikan hikmah dan pelajaran dari setiap apapun yang diciptakan-Nya. Tak terkecuali lewat jari dan pandangan tadi.
Kemampuan kita untuk melihat suatu masalah, akan sangat membantu kita dalam memecahkan masalah itu. Walau kadang, pemecahan masalah itu, adalah berupa kemampuan kita untuk melihat masalah dengan lebih jernih dan tenang. Serta dengan memahami, apa sebenarnya masalah yang kita hadapi itu.
